How to Unlike a Facebook Page

By Daniel · Comments (0)

By Wendy Moore

With so many great fan pages on Facebook today it’s hard not to like them them all!

Liking a page connects you to it and allows you to receive regular updates as well as messages and invites from that particular page. These will show on your wall and in your Facebook inbox. Liking a page also shows your friends that you like a page.

But what if you no longer want to get updates from a Facebook business page?

You have two options available. One is to Hide the page and the other one is to Unlike the page.

Having a Facebook Split Personality

By Daniel · Comments (0)

By Gary Wagnon

Maybe you are Bruce Wayne by day and Batman by night. Or just maybe, you’re clients and colleagues know you as Professor or Your Honor, but your high school classmates know you as “HotRod”. Nothing is more comforting to hear than, “Hi, I’m Dr. Hotrod Smith and I’ll be operating on you today.”

Facebook is the great connector. We reconnect with classmates we haven’t talked to in years. With them, we relive memories, embarrassing moments and teenage milestones. Plus, it’s fun. But sharing that picture of ourselves may not exactly further our professional image. I’m sure lots of us have those past skeletons (like streaking the quadrangle in college), but we don’t exactly put them on our resume. Read More→

Facebook Fan Pages – The New Capture Page and List Building Tool

By Daniel · Comments (0)

By Tim Kacprowicz

Using Facebook Fan Pages to Capture Contact Information
The use of capture or squeeze pages for viral list building and lead generation is familiar to most people who browse the web regularly, but the use of a Facebook fan page (or business page) to capture visitor information is just starting to “catch on.” The use of social media in general has taken off at a staggering rate and has ushered in social marketing with it. A Facebook fan page, when used correctly, is an essential component and offers some tremendous advantages over traditional capture pages for list-building and lead generation. With Facebook exploding to now well over 750,000,000 people, the viral power to expand your traffic many times over, greater conversion and the highest accuracy possible makes a Facebook capture page the superior alternative to traditional capture pages. By Wendy Moore

Facebook has made many updates in recent months. Unfortunately, some of these updates may threaten the privacy of personal information you may have innocently shared on Facebook.

In many cases, the onus is on you and you are required to actively take steps to secure your data from third party applications and websites, as some changes allow them to gain access to your data without you being advised. Facebook Advertising is an example. Read More→

10 Rules for Handling Negative Comments on Facebook

By Daniel · Comments (0)

By Laurie Brackett

You received a bad blog comment or bad post and you panic.  Your first instinct is to delete the comment and forget it ever came, but don’t.  Here’s why; you are giving up an excellent opportunity to present your case and possibly win some sympathy votes for the way you handled it.

In most cases a bad blog comment or post to your social outlets has already been read by too many people for it to go away.  Plus, you run the risk of upsetting the poster more by ignoring it and erasing their message and thereby causing them to post more negative comments and posts. Read More→

The New Facebook Timeline – An Online Scrapbook

By Daniel · Comments (0)

By Terri Brooks

As I sat in my office watching the Live Feed from Facebook’s F8 Conference last week, I quickly saw the new Timeline being much like an online scrapbook. I love to scrapbook and have gotten together with friends to share stamps, templates and other embellishments for by books. But the one thing I don’t do with my scrap-booking is to…Keep It Up To Date! I’m terrible about this. I have really good intentions, but I put it off and put it off until my children are grown and all the wonderful events of their life are outdated, so why put that book together now? Read More→

How to Add a PDF Document to a Facebook Page

By Daniel · Comments (0)

By Wendy Moore

Facebook provides users a lot of opportunities to customize their business pages in order to attract as much traffic as possible.

Apart from the existing Info, Wall and Photos sections, there are many other ways you can customize your Facebook page according to your branding. One of them is by uploading PDF documents in a separate tab.

A PDF document is a great addition to any Facebook page.  You might choose to upload your regular newsletter or a flyer promoting your business or event.  You can even share any media coverage such as a magazine page where you and your business may have been featured.

Adding a PDF tab is fast and easy.  All you need is to find the right application to use on your page and to install it.  Many of these applications, built by third parties, are free of charge and using them is an effective way of attracting visitors to your Facebook Fan page and showcasing what you have to offer. Facebook Changes Again (Grrrr) – Bite the Bullet and Learn About Them

By Daniel · Comments (0)

By Joleen Halloran

Face Them Fearlessly

You probably noticed that Facebook has implemented some new changes recently and in case you wondered why the heck they did this AGAIN – the answer this time is to compete with the new Google + social media platform. Many of the changes you will see implemented on Facebook emulate the Google + social media site which is now available to anyone over 18 if you have a gmail account. The user reviews on Google + and the functionality it provides compared to Facebook has been very good and the subscription rate far exceeds Facebook’s within the same time period of it inception. I encourage you to check out Google + to expand your horizons since change is obviously the word in the social media vernacular. Google + has a fantastic look and feel to it. My favorite feature on Google + is the Hangout which is like Skype video calling but you can have up to 10 people on your video conference in a Hangout. I also like the alerts you can set up in Google +, called Sparks, to easily check out the news on your favorite topics. But if you are just a Facebook addict and a loyalist and want to understand some of the new changes a little better; here is an overview of the changes. The main change is to the newsfeed, but some other new features have been added, and there are more to come, so be on the lookout. Read More→
