Facebook is probably the most widely-used Social Media network in the world. With more than 800 Million active users it’s no wonder Network Marketers are turning to Facebook to expand their business. When it comes to prospecting for potential customers or team members there is a certain way to go about it that will ensure you get results (instead of being blocked by Facebook for spamming).

1. Look for Marketing-related groups or pages:

If you want to find GOOD marketers, you have to look for like-minded people. A few groups/pages you might want to try are: Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn (he’s a big one), Rober Kiyosaki, or Dani Johnson.

Join the group or page you choose and scan through the comments on the wall looking for comments on some good posts. Looking through the comments is a great way to gauge the people you want to connect with. Look for short comments (long ones usually imply that a person has way too much time on their hands and spends their day perusing the net and giving their two-cents worth). Look for positive comments (this one is obvious; positive comments equals positive people).

When you find such a person you’re going to take a few minutes and look through their profile. It’s kind of like doing your “homework” on the person. You want to be able to get some piece of information that you can use to form a connection.

2. How to make a connection with your prospect:

If you’ve done your homework then you’ll have found some piece of information you can use to personalize your private message (inbox). The key to getting a “prospect” to answer you back is by making the message personable and NOT pitching your company/opportunity. Yes, you heard me right! DO NOT pitch your product (at first, that is). Ask a lot of questions. Try and find out their “why”, what they do for a living, or what is NOT working for them in their current company. End the inbox on a positive note and NEVER send links in your initial contact message (it screams “don’t read me!”). Now, some people will message you back, and others won’t. That’s the name of the game. Don’t get discouraged!!

This process of connecting with people and messaging them should be done on a daily basis. As with anything else, be consistent. Consistency is what will get you where you want to be! Try and message between 5 and 10 people each day, and when you message them, send them a friend request at the same time. Why? Because your ultimate goal is to “connect” with them.

3. Pitching your business/opportunity:

Once you’re on a friendly basis with your prospect you goal is to try and find out what’s NOT working for them in their current situation. If they’re messaging you right away with their comp plan and links to their page, etc.. Then that usually means that they have no idea how to use Facebook for marketing. Try and pick out what the weakness is in their pitch; create a little doubt in themselves. That will allow you to assume a mentoring position in the relationship without them knowing. Soon they will be looking to you for help or asking your advice. This give you the opportunity to give them some tips, build a rapport, and possibly pitch your business (if the timing is right).

If they say no, and some will, then you use your back-up plan! You ask them if they’d be interested in getting more leads online, to which most answer “yes”. With that you introduce them to MLSP.
